First Volunteer through the Canadian Program recruitment

When I came back last year from my first internship which was at the centre Las Marias in Nicaragua (http://childrenforpeace.blogspot.com), I realised that I couldn't let down this extraordinary - family type- NGO, Dianova.

Dianova gave me the opportunity to work with them in the field (Nicargua) and now to pass on my experience to other futures interns. Since September 2008, I have broadcast the new Dianova Canadian Volunteer program in search of eclectic student that would like to live a new experience. It is all about give and take!

Then it happened! Raji Cheema contacted me and was interested to go to Nicaragua.

Brief Presentation of Raji Cheema:

Graduated from Mcgill University in psychology, Raji went in January 2008 to India as a volunteer to the Care and Counseling Centre (http://wussyraji.blogspot.com). She worked independently with Autistic child in special educational setting. She was also responsible for managing behaviours and assisting teachers with their therapeutic goals. Finally, she assisted in the facilitation of physical education classes for all children.

Raji had acquired a lot of experience since 2003 as a volunteer psychology related work . She worked as a research assistant at the Jewish General Hospital and at the Health Psychology Lab at McGill University as well as volunteering for the Hospital Douglas in Montreal.

Raji would be heading Nicaragua May 31st and will staying at the center until August. She has many ideas for activities and a very interesting project relevant to the prevention program Neovida implemented at the Centre Las Marias. I will let her the plaisure to introduce this project as well as her weekly report.

You will be following Raji through her journey living with her the good, the bad, the blues, the exceptionnal and the emotional moments. It is not only like a journal, her weekly report will help as well Dianova to evaluate its internship and how we can improve ourself.

To come full circle it is all about give and take!

Dianova Canada (promotor of the internship program ), myself (Jenyfer Maisonneuve: internship coordinator) and Dianova Nicaragua (internship field) welcome Raji and hope she will have a fantastic learning experience!
